Discovered an interesting conflict between MCE and WMP yesterday. Running a dual-display system, if WMP is open and displaying on the same screen that MCE uses, and then MCE is launched, MCE will hang...hard. Requires a reboot.

This is interesting. I too run a multi-headed machine (19" 16x9 to my left and a 19" STD as primary). I tried to recreate this crash several times... WMP playing a song, playing a song with visualizations running, playing a mpg, playing an avi, playing a dvr-ms... but every time I 'hit the green button' it just loaded like normal.
On a side note, my MCE loads up in a window rather than full screen (I just hate the way it grabs the mouse, I'm trying to work here... the media is just a perk).
My theory is you discovered a driver issue with one or more of the following... video/audio/tuner...
I would make sure you have manufacturers drivers for each and try again.

I've figured out the key element. The monitors on this system were configured oddly so that I had the following setup:
- System Monitor #2 was placed on the left side of my desk, and configured as my primary display
- System Monitor #1 was placed on the right side of my desk, and configured as the secondary display
I would have Media Center on my right-hand display, and as it was System Monitor #1 the MCE would open on that display. I swapped my displays around and reconfigured primary/secondary display, and the problem has gone away. So there's the specific cause and the fix, but it's still a bug ;-)

I agree. I love Media Center but the fact that it grabs the mouse is
the one thing that keeps me from using it. It makes using it in a dual-display setup practically useless (or at least incredibly annoying). I wish it would behave like Windows Media Player in fullscreen. Have you discovered a way around it?
